He talks of his interest in rugby and support of Pirates Rugby Club. In this interview, May talks about how she first got involved with Highland Dancing at the age of 10 through dancing with the Mataura Kilties Pipe Band. She was taught by Stella Glennie. May moved to Dunedin to be taught by William Kilgour. She took part in a dance tour of Central Otago.
